'how do we belong together?' presented by the Garment District Arts Festival/ Chashama

September 8, 2016

October 20th & 21st from 12-2p. Chashama's Performance Art on the Plaza. Location TBA.

'how do we belong together?' places pairings of people in front of the authorial eye of passersby. Spectators are asked to anonymously narrate a relationship between the subjects based solely on appearance. Through The Ume Group and their extended network of acquaintances, Keelie Sheridan explores how the bodies of performers and civilians communicate meaning through simple movement. 'how do we belong together?' is a celebration, interrogation and meditation on perception and assumption in one of the world's most diverse cities.

Ren Gyo Soh's First Anniversary Party

June 26, 2015

What a gift it was to be included in Ren Gyo Soh's First Anniversary Party, celebrating a year since it's initial founding. I was able to perform an excerpt from The Ume Group's Dream Dances and premiere a new piece choreographed by Ren Gyo Soh's Yokko; a Butoh exploration of Hamlet entitled The Name of Action.
