Things got delightfully weird at JackNY the past two weekends as The Harper's Play, presented by Chooptown. What a privilege it was to play with Sarah Buffmanti, Matt Kohlrais, Aron Cantor and Andre Harris under the direction of Marty Brown, with an insane and brilliant script by Paul Ketchum, stage managed by Sophie Silleck and designed by Sarah Bruning Johnston and Sarah Engelman Brown.
Don't think you've heard the last from this team.
After previous lives at Dixon Place and the 2014 Prelude Festival, The Harper's Play by Paul Ketchum, directed by Marty Brown, will return in February 2015- bigger and better than ever before, this time at Jack NY, February 5-14th, 2015. Maybe I'll be reprising my roles as Nancy Silberkleit or Monique Mabelly. Maybe I'll be playing something completely different. Only time will tell. Stay tuned.
The production quality is a reflection of my super-stretched schedule at the moment, but the kids shine through. Hear what some of the students in my Emerging Voices programming have to say.
On Tuesday evening I had the privilege of participating in a reading of Erin Courtney's Honey Drop, recently listed by The Kilroys as one of the top 46 un/under-produced plays by women writers in America. The reading was directed by Lisa Peterson and produced by the Brave New World Rep in a gorgeous backyard in Ditmas Park, BK. There are few more enjoyable ways to spend an afternoon or two than rehearsing a beautiful play in the sunshine.
